1953 Greavette 18’ Dispro 18.5’ $19,500 SOLD!
“The Greatest Little Motor Boat Afloat” That’s how it was originally advertised & they were right!
“Chelsea Rose” is one of the very finest Greavette Dispro models afloat. Though you could certainly take a prize at any Boat Show, this is very much a user boat and in excellent condition! Custom trailer and cover are included as well. Long time owners are reducing their collection of exquisite Classic boats. There is a brief history below but if you want more history, I would be happy to give you all the details about the Dispro & the remarkable “Disappearing Propeller Motor Boat Company”. Just ask!
Patented & produced in Canada in 1915 and after going through several different owners, the Dispro boat returned to Muskoka when the Greavette Boat Company of Gravenhurst, Ontario purchased the patterns and patents in 1936. Greavette was well known for building its “Streamliner” models and internationally famous and very successful “Miss Canada” series of Gold Cup racing boats. Greavette produced approximately 400 hulls between the years 1936 to 1958, planked with Western Red Cedar and steamed White Oak ribs and also introduced the sweet running electric start, English Coventry Victor 2 cylinder 7hp motor around 1950 providing a smooth, quiet, & fast ride. The “Uncle Sam” model at 18’ – 6” length and 56 “ beam was the largest and most popular model built by Greavette.
Very few remain, & “Chelsea Rose” is one of the very best! Proudly offered by someone who used to own one. Wish I still had it! By the way , from the same owners collection : 1940 18′ Gar Wood Utility
