A note about Matthews…
Words like “legendary” and “visionary” are oftentimes overused. Both surely apply however, to Scott Matthews who built his first boats in the late 1890’s. In 1904 working for Lozier, he designed and built the winner of the very first Gold Cup race – the world’s oldest & most prestigious motor sport contest – turning in a record speed of 23.6 MPH! By 1906, The Matthews Company was building boats under its own name in Port Clinton, Ohio – and did so for nearly 70 years, producing their last boat in 1974. Truly one of the finest pleasure boats ever built!
